The Flying Hammerlock Video Review #54: MsChif Vs. Melissa

Cheerleader Melissa vs. "Your Soul's Tormentor" MsChif, SHIMMER Volume 1, Berwyn Eagles Club, Berwyn, IL, November 6, 2005.

No backstory here, this was their first singles match against each other and was part of SHIMMER's debut show.

The bell rings and Melissa charges in with forearms and some clubbing shots to the back. MsChif tosses her hair and stands up from that. MsChif screams and Melissa responds with some more forearms, knocking MsChif down to the mat. MsChif gets up and screams again. Melissa answers back with a scream of her own and a kick to MsChif's leg. Melissa follows with forearms and a chop. MsChif throws a forearm of her own and runs off the ropes and comes off with a shoulderblock to knock Melissa down. MsChif goes back into the ropes and clotheslines Melissa. MsChif gets on top of Melissa and goes ground and pound on her. Referee Andy Long admonishes MsChif and she screams at him, and he backs away from her. Back to their feet and MsChif grabs an arm wringer as commentator Dave Prazak calls her one of the most dangerous women on the SHIMMER roster. They do a bit of chain wrestling until MsChif comes up with a lucha-style armdrag. MsChif gets a hammerlock into a stranglehold and brings Melissa down to her knees, leading to a complicated submission hold. MsChif releases the hold, leaving Melissa face down on the mat. MsChif rolls her over and goes for the pin but only gets 2. Back up, Melissa goes to the eyes and rakes MsChif's face along the top rope. Melissa hits a belly to back suplex. Melissa stomps MsChif. Melissa repeatedly slaps MsChif's face, causing MsChif to cover up to escape. Someone in the crowd says, "Beat the witch", even though MsChif is a banshee, not a witch. Back up, Melissa sends MsChif face first into the turnbuckle. MsChif is standing in the corner and Melissa gives her repeated shoulders into the midsection. Melissa tries to tie up MsChif in the ropes but the referee stops her. Melissa hits a vertical suplex to a good reaction. MsChif is trying to get up but Melissa is kneeing her in the head. Melissa chokes MsChif with her boot while holding onto the ropes. Melissa ties up MsChif's legs in an inverted Cloverleaf and actually bends her to the point that she forces MsChif to kick herself in the head! Yes, MsChif is THAT flexible. MsChif is trying to get up and Melissa keeps stomping her. Melissa whips MsChif into the ropes and MsChif comes off and Melissa lifts her up but MsChif bends herself into a huracanrana to counter! MsChif then bends herself into a bridge and applies an inverted STF, but Melissa does make it to the ropes. Back up, Melissa kicks away at MsChif's leg. Melissa powers MsChif into the corner and goes to work on the leg, tying it up in the ropes. Melissa follows with a dropkick to the knee. Melissa brings MsChif out of the corner, hits a back heel trip to bring MsChif down to the mat and goes to work on the leg. Melissa traps MsChif in the ropes and slaps her. Melissa brings MsChif back into the middle of the ring and hits her with a big forearm shot. MsChif responds with a punch and a backfist. Melissa responds to that by launching MsChif through the ropes to the floor. MsChif is down on all fours on the floor and Melissa jumps off the apron with a shot to the back. MsChif is crawling away and Melissa grabs her and sends her into the guardrail. Melissa bends MsChif backwards over the guardrail and then smacks MsChif's back into the rail. Melissa rolls back into the ring to break the referee's count. Melissa picks up MsChif for a slam and sends her back first into the guardrail and then into the ring post twice. Melissa drops MsChif down to the hard wooden floor. (No pretty blue mats here.) Melissa breaks the referee's count again. Melissa grabs MsChif by the back of her head and places her onto the apron and it looks like she's going back in the ring. Instead, MsChif gets up and goes back to the floor and hits some shots to Melissa. They go back and forth with forearms and chops. Melissa breaks the count yet again. MsChif is up against the guardrail and Melissa grabs her legs and bends her backwards over the guardrail while pulling MsChif's arms through the guardrail! Melissa releases the hold and rolls MsChif back in the ring and follows. MsChif is bent over in the ring and Melissa gives her a forearm across the back. Melissa hooks MsChif and sets her up for the Kudo Driver (Vertebreaker/Cop Killa/Gringo Killa) but MsChif lands on her feet. MsChif comes back with some forearms, sending Melissa backwards toward the ropes. Melissa responds with a forearm of her own. Melissa whips MsChif into the ropes and MsChif comes off with Unhallowed Grace (Quebrada). It gets 2. Melissa gets up first and brings MsChif up and MsChif responds with some forearms, backing Melissa into the corner. MsChif adds in some clotheslines in the corner and another forearm. MsChif whips Melissa out of the corner but Melissa reverses it and follows with a dropkick in the corner. Then a second dropkick. Melissa charges in but MsChif gets out of the way and hits a drop toehold to send Melissa crashing into the corner. MsChif then gives Melissa three double stomps to the back, which Prazak calls payback for all the work Melissa had done to MsChif's back earlier in the match. MsChif drags Melissa into the center of the ring and rolls her over and goes for the pin but only gets 2. MsChif gets up first as the crowd starts chanting her name, suggesting that she won them over. MsChif charges in for a huracanrana but Melissa counters it into a sit-out power bomb! Melissa can't cover though. Melissa does go for the cover but only gets 2. Melissa gets up first and goes for the Kudo Driver again but MsChif escapes again and hits the Desecrator. It gets the pin at 15:10! *****!

I loved this match from the first time I saw it on the DVD. Highly, HIGHLY recommended and you can watch it here.
