The Flying Hammerlock Video Review #25: Heidi The Riveter Vs "Kickin'" Kimber Lee

Heidi The Riveter (Heidi Lovelace) vs. "Kickin'" Kimber Lee, Olde Wrestling And Yet Another Extravaganza of Wrestling Exhibitions, Huron County Fairgrounds, Norwalk, OH, August 28, 2016.

Historical background: Olde Wrestling is Marion Fontaine's promotion, founded in 2013 and still running today.   The promotion has a 1920s theme, complete with gimmicks that fit the era and many deliberate anachronisms.   This was another match in Heidi and Kim's rivalry across many different promotions.    It was also Kim's Olde Wrestling debut and one of only two matches she'd ever have there, the other being a loss to Babe Del Rubio (Allysin Kay) at Extravaganza 2019.   Heidi is the heel here.  "Kickin'" Kimber Lee is a flapper gimmick.

Heidi walks to the ring with a scowl on her face and carrying a wrench.  Kim comes out dancing and slapping hands with the fans.  Kim dances some in the ring before going outside and chasing Heidi around the ring a few times in a funny spot.  Heidi stops it and breathes into her black bandana.   Kim kicks Heidi in the midsection and rolls Heidi into the ring and follows to start the match.   They tie up and Kim grabs a headlock and takes Heidi down to the mat.  Heidi counters with a headscissors and smacks Kim a few times with her red bandana, drawing boos.   Kim escapes the headscissors, gets to her feet and dances some more in the corner.   They circle each other and tie up and Heidi grabs a wristlock.  Kim reverses the hold, hooks Heidi's arm, and they do a do-si-do dance.   Separated again, Heidi runs at Kim who hits an armdrag and dances. Another armdrag, more dancing.   Heidi is seated in the corner and Kim walks over and does some dancing kicks.   Kim takes a bow in the middle of the ring as Heidi gets back to her feet.  The Dixieland band at ringside starts playing and Kim does some more dancing, leading to a dance-off.  Kim wins, of course.   Finally, Heidi stomps on Kim's foot to stop her from dancing.   With Kim hopping on one foot, Heidi headbutts her, sending Kim staggering into the corner.   Heidi delivers two big kicks to Kim's midsection in the corner.   Heidi argues with the referee before going back to Kim in the corner.  Heidi chokes Kim with her boot.   Heidi argues with some of the fans but Kim surprises her with a schoolgirl rollup for 2.   Heidi gives Kim a big kick to the midsection.  Then another kick.   Heidi stands on Kim's back while Kim is draped over the bottom rope.   Kim gets back up and Heidi headbutts her.  Heidi smacks Kim face first into the turnbuckle.   Heidi jaws with the fans some more while Kim is barely standing in the corner.  Heidi kicks Kim again.   Heidi snapmares Kim over and grabs a chinlock.   Kim starts dancing again to escape the hold.   Kim gets up and kicks Heidi in the midsection.  Heidi responds with a headbutt to Kim's midsection.  Heidi sends Kim face first into another turnbuckle.  Heidi charges across the ring but Kim moves out of the way and Heidi crashes into the corner.  Heidi tries again, same result.  Heidi bounces off and Kim responds with another kick to the midsection.  Then some dancing kicks.   Then a big spinning kick to Heidi's head as the commentator speculates about Kim having a dancing background. (Kimberly Frankele does have a ballet background and has worked as a ballet teacher outside of wrestling.)   All that gets 2.  Heidi snaps Kim's necklace and slams her.   Heidi covers and gets 2.  With Kim down, Heidi goes out to the apron and climbs up to the top turnbuckle but Kim stops her.  Kim kicks Heidi and pulls her down by her feet.  Kim covers for 2.  Kim looks frustrated and stomps the ring a few times.  Heidi is against the ropes and Kim throws in a forearm and whips Heidi across the ring.   Heidi reverses and tries to lift Kim up for a slam but Kim escapes.   Kim gets a rear waistlock but Heidi hits her with a back elbow and a Stunner. (See what I meant about anachronisms?)  It gets 2.   Heidi is surprised that that wasn't enough.   She walks around the ring to her corner and grabs her wrench.   Heidi goes to hit Kim with the wrench but the referee grabs it and they argue.   Kim turns Heidi around and hits a double-knee facebuster for the pin!  ***1/2.

While somewhat repetitive and obviously more gimmicky than their usual match, this was a whole lot of fun from a promotion that specializes in it.  Recommended and you can watch it here.
